Junior Data Engineer - Energy Transition

At ML6, we work with energy companies to solve some of the most pressing challenges of the energy transition. As renewable generation grows and electricity demand increases, grid operators, utilities, and energy asset owners need better data foundations to make faster and more informed decisions.

As a Data Engineer in our Energy Transition Domain, you'll help build those foundations together with a team of machine learning engineers and energy experts.

The impact you’ll make:

  • Dealing with delayed and evolving data sources

  • Industrializing machine learning solutions

  • Ensuring reliable data flows from source to prediction

  • Creating robust infrastructure

  • Building the data foundations behind projects ranging from grid congestion management to portfolio position optimization and investment analysis

Why you?

Minimum requirements:

Technical Skills & Experience

  • A degree in Physics, Mathematics, Energy Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Strong Python and SQL skills.

  • Experience with Git, APIs, CI/CD.

Communication & Consulting

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. You can confidently explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • A consultancy mindset with a strong sense of ownership and initiative.

Domain Mindset

  • An interest in understanding the business context behind the data and a willingness to engage with complex energy domain problems.

  • An affinity with energy systems, energy markets, and energy-related data, or a strong motivation to develop that expertise.

  • Enjoy working closely with machine learning engineers, energy domain experts, and clients to design the right data foundations for impactful solutions.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

  • Experience working with machine learning systems, particularly forecasting, optimization, or decision-support applications.

  • Experience building data-intensive applications, platforms, or pipelines.

  • Experience building and maintaining production-grade data pipelines (batch and streaming) and data platforms.

  • Familiarity with MLOps practices and tools.

  • Experience in the energy sector, utilities, or electricity markets.
