Senior AI Engineer (f/m/d)

Your mission

JTL is one of the leading providers of e-commerce software in the German-speaking region — with around 450 employees across the group and more than 50,000 customers across a wide range of industries. We develop scalable, flexible solutions for the online retail of the future, from ERP systems to shop and marketplace integrations.

You'll join the team building Juno, the agentic AI layer that powers our platform. We turn ambitious AI designs into production-ready systems and thrive on solving hard problems in reliability, latency, and scale. We work agentic-first, so AI coding assistants like Claude Code and Copilot are part of how we build every day.


Your Responsibilities 

• Build and maintain the AI-powered services and agentic workflows behind Juno
• Develop scalable backend services and APIs
• Design and implement agents and tools
• Optimize AI workflows for reliability, latency, scale, and cost, with monitoring and testing built in
• Collaborate with Product, Platform, Data, and DevOps engineers, and help shape our architecture and engineering standards

Your profile

• You bring 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong expertise in Python or C# and a track record of delivering production-grade systems
• You have built and deployed AI-powered applications in real production environments
• You have hands-on experience with LLMs and AI orchestration frameworks, including RAG and vector search
• You have strong backend and API engineering skills, ideally with FastAPI or a similar framework
• You use AI coding assistants like Claude Code, Copilot, or Cursor as a natural part of your workflow
• You have experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP 
• You have experience with Docker and containerized deployments 
• You are familiar with prompt engineering, tool-calling, and agent design patterns
