- Own the multi-year vision and strategy for vehicle data as a platform capability — defining the future state across modernization, scalability, reliability, and usability, and building the case for the initiatives that get us there.
- Set the technical product direction that shapes the roadmaps of a ~6-person engineering team and the many teams that consume vehicle data. You'll provide the context, framing, and prioritization that gives them clarity.
- Define the standard for data quality across the platform: the validation rules, quality thresholds, and taxonomy (make/model/trim/options) that everything downstream depends on.
- Lead external vehicle data partnerships end to end — strategy, requirements, data exchange specifications, and contract/vendor management.
- Drive the strategy for automation and enrichment, including where AI/ML can meaningfully improve data coverage, classification, and quality.
- Shape the architecture direction with engineering — data ingestion pipelines, service boundaries, validation routines, and operational quality controls — bringing a clear point of view to technical trade-offs.
- Influence across the organisation —be the voice and evangelist of the team by translating complex technical topics into decision-ready language for senior leadership and turning business goals into actionable engineering work.
- Create clarity in ambiguity — clear problem framing, focused prioritization, and sound decision-making under real constraints.

About the role
We're looking for a Staff Technical Product Manager (d/f/m) to set the vision and long-term strategy for vehicle data at mobile.de — one of the most business-critical platform capabilities we own.
Vehicle data is the foundation beneath nearly every experience on mobile.de: listing creation, search, pricing, dealer tooling, and the customer-facing products millions of buyers and sellers rely on. As Staff TPM, you'll define what this capability should become over the next several years and shape the technical and product decisions that get us there — modernization, scalability, reliability, and making our data effortless to consume for internal and external stakeholders.
As a senior individual contributor, you'll lead through influence by setting technical direction that shapes the roadmaps of multiple teams, aligning senior stakeholders across engineering, business development, marketing, and sales, and setting the standard for how mobile.de treats vehicle data end to end.
This is for someone who's energised by owning a technical product that isn't directly customer-facing but forms the foundation for many products and who wants to shape where it goes, with the mandate to make it happen.
- 8+ years of experience setting technical product strategy as a Staff Technical Product Manager in a platform, infrastructure, or API-heavy environment.
- Experience in item data or listing quality, catalogue taxonomy and applying AI/ML to data enrichment or classification.
- Ability to achieve outcomes through influence across engineering and business stakeholders, without formal authority.
- Deep analytical skills — comfortable working with large, complex datasets.
- Experience with B2B / API products involving external vendors and partners, including negotiating requirements and data contracts.
- Fluency in technical concepts — APIs, service boundaries, data models, data integration patterns (REST, batch imports, validation/quality checks), reliability, and operational excellence — enough to hold a credible point of view with engineers.
- Excellent communication — able to simplify complex technical topics for senior audiences without losing accuracy.
- Experience translating business goals into strategy, roadmaps, and outcome-oriented delivery.
Nice to Have
- Experience with API lifecycle management — contracts, versioning, documentation, backwards compatibility, consumer-driven changes.
- Background in automotive retail.
- Passion for automotive — or genuine curiosity about the domain. Vehicle data is at the heart of what we do.
- Our business language is English; confidence in German is a plus.
